What is CPR?

CPR is Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. In other words, heart/lung revival. CPR is a process whereby a person who has a cardiac event is provided with external muscular support. CPR has always been designed to keep the patient's blood circulating until advanced care arrives.

The process behind circulation is to attempt to oxygenate the brain so that it can sustain itself until defibrillation or medication administration can take place by Advanced Life Support personnel such as Parmedics and Fire Fighters. CPR has contributed to an increase in save rates from sudden cardiac death across the United States.

Although it is possible to take CPR instruction Online, you should be careful to ensure that you are getting what you need and learning good CPR.  Rember that learning CPR online is better than not learning CPR at all, but the quality increases when you do the skill in person.

The best way to learn CPR, is to have a CPR Instructor teach it to you in person.  The important part is that your body and mind both remember how to perform this life-saving skill.  A rough overview of the process is detailed below.
